Today we are going to discuss the importance of getting people to talk about products and services in order to be a successful brand!
Whenever I am wanting to try a new product or service the first thing I do is hop onto Instagram and find as many reviews by my favourite bloggers, experts or celebrities as I can about a product, in order to decide if I think the product is worthy of my money and time.
So if anyone’s anything like me then it means the concept of Social Currency is very important when it comes to their next purchase.
Social Currency is a part of the ‘STEPPS Model Principles of Contagiousness.’ Social Currency is the notion of people sharing their thoughts, opinions and interests about a product or service. Having people talk about their brand can make the brand look good to others.
Now, how does this increase a brands probability for a successful campaign? Well… having a ‘worthy person’ make a brand, product or service look good, increases desire in consumers for social approval, which is a fundamental human motivation when it comes to our next purchase.
Having experts, celebrities and influencer bloggers talk about or support a brand, is a prime tool for the concept WOM, and can provide a brand with its initial good impression, if a notable person is talking great things about the brand!
For example, the brand Adidas…….now Adidas is already an established brand so what is the next step for them to increase each of their campaigns success? It’s making their product look ‘remarkable’ and making people feel like ‘insiders’ if they own something from Adidas. And how do they do this you ask? They get some of the most influential people in the world, such as the Kardashians, to wear their fashion items before they are launched to the public. This creates a trend to consumers and as soon as the product launches…. people want to purchase it straight away because people they find ‘worthy and remarkable’…were wearing that product.

I have same opinion with you. I always buy some new stuffs based on the celebrities or some influencers. It’s good to hear the review first, rather than waste money or receive disappointed products.

You are so right about Instagram influencing how and what we purchase! I have bought so many pairs of shoes simply because I have seen celebrities and sports stars wearing them.
