How Big Data is changing the world of Marketing and Advertising

Hello and welcome back to my channel everyone!

Today’s topic is all about Big Data and all its magical wonders.

Big data is the fascinating concept of analysing human behaviours and activities, that reveal our patterns, trends and interactions using the data collected from our phones, laptops or electronic devices.

Personally I think it’s helping change the world of marketing and advertising. Its created a way for businesses to reach their target market in a whole new light, as they can understand their target audiences needs and wants, before they even put their ad out.

Let’s break this down so we can see how Big Data processes information in order to use if for marketing and advertising.

Let’s go from the top……..the umbrella of DATA MANAGEMENT.

An example…our mobile phones.

Big data has the ability to record what we do on our mobile phones and follow acquisitions made throughout the day, month or year. Marketers can use this data to extract, clean and annotate the data we look through.

So if I visit 5 different sports websites, and purchase a pair of runners from one of them online (on my phone), big data will record this information so companies can use it to their advantage, when considering how to reach their target market.

ANALYTICS

Big data then integrates, and aggregates this information to create a representation of what my interests are.

With this data, marketers use big data to help analyse and create a model of the information, to generate an understanding and interpretation of my interests.

Companies can use this interpretation to establish if I am a part of their target market, and if I am, they can now personally target my mobile device!

So if you’ve ever wonder why the ads on Facebook and Instagram always relate to our particular interests…well my friends that’s the wonders of Big Data.
